1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. The i3+ is a good alternative for those who want a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot once it gets full.
Both robots excel at cleaning up surface debris from hard floors and carpets, and they are very good at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can be stuck on things like socks or power cords and may have issues in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to rug.
iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station, automatically empties its dirt into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes 3 hours to fully charge.
2. Roomba by iRobot
The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line, and it comes with the latest technology. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most important feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ is able to better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot with voice or through the app.
The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room, and even vacuum the area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. Once connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car that is amidst a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households and can fit perfectly next to the table for a coffee or the bookshelf, where you can wave it around like a magic device.
vacuum robot is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system captures allergens, and then releases fresh air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpets to trap large crumbs and fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It can quickly switch from handheld to floor vacuum, and vice versa.
This model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also gives an easy access to two attachments and an Wand. This is a major improvement over older Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The main issue with the V10 is its limited running time. The claims of its marketing that it has up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is an average not an extraordinary time for a battery-powered cordless vac. It's enough time to vacuum the typical home but not enough to get into every corner. (A second time usually works). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to invest in an expensive robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of debris types and sizes during our tests, and often passes over the same areas multiple times to get a really thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows it reach into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice addition.
vacuum robot iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models such as our top choices and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. This means that it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it often runs out of battery power before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower costs for recurring expenses and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is able to better move itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries strips that can be controlled with your smartphone's voice assistance. It's also more robust, has a larger motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's no surprise that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard tech for navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior customizations docking frequency settings and many more. It's simple to comprehend and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it wasn't particularly well with higher-up objects like cords or socks which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we've tested and this could be a deterrent for some shoppers.
The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or children when you're away from home. The dustbin and filter can be cleaned for quick, painless cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that self-empties to keep the robot's dustbin clear and maximizes suction power for each cleaning run.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path and a larger dustbin that holds twice as much debris than other models to keep the area clear for maximum runtime. Plus, they include two side sweepers that clean up around edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also includes AutoSense technology, which detects if it's picking up dirt on surfaces or embedded dirt and automatically adjusts its power level. Additionally, you can track the status of the vacuum's battery and return it to its dock for charging at the touch of the button. The app lets you customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum so that you can tell where it is focused or if it's stuck.
The app also makes it simple to manually steer the robot in the event of need. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that can make it difficult for other robots I've tested. However, the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border without registering it as an incline. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
